Non-Profit/Organizational Development
As a founder and director/producer for Poetry+Motion, created ten cross-discipline performances over five years where local dancers created new choreography for poems written and performed by local poets. Seven performances featured African American poets and dancers. Managed the selection process, chose and negotiated with venues, caterers, and videographers. Contracted with poets and dancers. Created marketing materials. Managed ticket sales. Created and managed web site and social media presence.
As Associate Director for Social Justice and Director for Justice Programs of the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) provided organizational development consulting and support to affiliated national nonprofit organizations. Served as project manager of volunteer/staff team developing nationwide program for 1,100 congregations, 24 districts and numerous affiliate organizations. Wrote articles and spoke in public settings regarding UUA social justice policies. Represented the UUA on national, interfaith boards. Supervised staff and volunteers. Recruited and trained workshop facilitators. Taught members of congregations and leaders of affiliate organizations the skills necessary to organize and manage for social change. Developed and led workshops on various topics including community organizing, race, gender, sexual orientation, environmental concerns, domestic violence, HIV/AIDS, and multi-racial families. The UUA is a merger of two of the oldest Protestant denominations in the US.
Financial Planning/Management
Served on Macy’s internal national design review team for development of an electronic marketing management system. As Business Analyst, Database Analyst, and Marketing Effectiveness Coordinator for Macy’s Northwest (Bon Marché) Marketing Department, created ongoing marketing effectiveness reports tracking sales and media costs. As Training & Implementation Manager, created documentation and training for in-house financial management database as well as Microsoft and Adobe Design Suite applications for Mac and PC users. Also created online customer surveys and the department’s intranet site.
